Intermediate Controls Engineer

Job Description:
We are currently searching for an Intermediate Controls Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and growing company with a great atmosphere.
Role:
- Work as part of an engineering team to deliver projects within the agreed schedules and budgets
- Guide control system designs of various custom machines and robot cells
- PLC Programming and HMI development
- Participate in both internal and external project meetings with the engineering teams, clients and suppliers
- Work collaboratively as part of an integrated group
- Site commissioning and installation support
- Travel to client facilities when required for the project
- Design, develop, and review electrical and controls (IEC) engineering drawings, specifications and documents in line with national and international standards such as CSA & IEEE
- Troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and HMI systems
- Prepare and review datasheets and/or procurement packages for electrical, control and instrumentation equipment
- Liaise with vendors, select and oversee purchase of electrical, instrumentation and control components
- Assist in preparing project documents such as scopes, schedules and reports
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of PLC platforms (Rockwell & Siemens) is desirable
- Knowledge of HMI/SCADA platforms (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, WinCC) is desirable
- Robot Programming (Kuka, ABB, FANUC) and experience with robotic cells is an asset
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Familiarity with industrial environments and production processes is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- BSc in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or a similar undergraduate degree
